Privacy Policy

Modeh Ani — Morning Prayer Alarm

Overview

Modeh Ani is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All information remains on your device.

Data Storage

All app data — including your alarm settings, day preferences, gender selection, and optional location — is stored locally on your device using encrypted app storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

Notifications

The app uses alarm and notification permissions exclusively to schedule your morning prayer alarm. Alarms are scheduled locally on your device using Apple's AlarmKit framework. No push notification server is involved.

Shabbat & Holiday Detection

Jewish holiday dates are calculated on-device using a built-in algorithm (the open-source @hebcal/core library). No network requests and no external calendar service are involved.

When you choose to enable the Shabbat skip feature, the app will request access to your device's location so it can calculate candle-lighting time (18 minutes before sunset) and nightfall (42 minutes after sunset) for your exact position. Your latitude and longitude are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to any server. You can decline the location request and still use the app — Shabbat skip will then fall back to a calendar-day approximation without sunset precision.

No Accounts or Sign-In

Modeh Ani does not require or offer user accounts, sign-in, email collection, or any form of registration.

No Analytics or Tracking

The app contains no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, no crash reporting services, and no telemetry of any kind. We do not know how many people use the app, how often they use it, or how they interact with it.

No Advertising

The app contains no advertisements and no advertising SDKs.

Third-Party Services

Modeh Ani does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or data processors. The app bundles the open-source @hebcal/core (Jewish calendar) and SunCalc (sunset math) libraries; both run entirely on-device without network access.

Children's Privacy

The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
